Cut From a Different Cloth ™ has many meanings, especially for CEO and Founder of SuperEgo LLC, Tommie Lark, Jr. A kid from a small town in Massachusetts to a successful business owner in the entertainment epicenter Los Angeles, Tommie has defied the odds. His childhood was less than ideal but he knew back then that he was cut from a different cloth. He took it upon himself to apply to a high school program in Amherst, MA for A Better Chance, an ambitious young kid that yearned for a better education. He thrived in Amherst, went off to Wesleyan, the prestigious private college in Connecticut, where he was one of the most accomplished track athletes ever to attend the NESCAC school. He graduated from college owning his own clothing business…resulting in the softest t-shirt I’ve EVER felt!

His story is what inspired the culture surrounding his clothing brand, SuperEgo…there aren’t too many people like him. In the early stages of creating his brand, he found a fabric that was metaphoric and spoke to his story. Hemp, a fabric that is literally cut from a different cloth. Even though the world has stamped it with a negative stigma and is an astonishingly misunderstood crop, the lifestyle brand promotes sustainability through their quality hemp clothing. It takes 700 gallons of water to make a single cotton t-shirt, when using hemp, they save 300 gallons per tee and requires no pesticides. By supporting this brand, you are also saving water and raising awareness with changing the very fabric of reality. They have brought sustainability to the street-wear industry and their mission is to redress America with it. Some countries have already began to embrace hemp, like the city of Calgary in Canada. For the last couple of years, many people have been visiting the best hemp shops calgary has to offer both in the city and online. Hopefully, other cities will begin to promote hemp clothing as well.

The brand resonates with people who are “cut from a different cloth,” and who aspire to express their uniqueness. The culture has created a social movement that thrives on positivity and supporting people who are true to themselves. The social movement has spread across the globe as far as Australia, where people are now buying their own hemp seeds from sites like https://marijuanaseeds.net.au/. It’s exciting to see that hemp crops are becoming more commonplace even with smaller growers, and they’re being used for sustainable purposes.
