Now, there’s a whole new meaning to the city slicker pant and I’m really excited about it! Patent leather, you either love it or hate it and I’m obsessed. We’ve mostly seen the vinyl, PVC or whatever you want to call it, on rockstars, exotic dancers and from head to toe red bodysuit on Brittany Spears’ “Oops I Did It Again” music video. No longer is it just reserved for the aforementioned and it’s certainly not just for rain jackets and kids dress shoes (or your 50 Shades of Gray dresser drawer), because the runway shows us the slick material is super fashionable by wearing pants, skirts, shoes, and trench coats.
Everyone has a little bit of a subversive spirit, so these hyper shine, bold pants are perfect for you to embrace it! They’re hot, they’re realistic and they’re comfy! It’s the perfect alternative to denim. I don’t care that people will hear me walking from a mile away as my thunder thighs rub together with each step, but I still wear them (and laugh at myself, like I do all day, everyday)! The funniest part of wearing the shiny bondagey pants? Trying to get them off! Especially if they aren’t lined, it can get a little sweaty in there. For the quickest and easiest way to get out of them (because it’s a thing), is to just peel them off, literally.
In order to pull off the bold look, you’ll need to balance the vinyl-esque pants accordingly. Follow my list of simple rules:
- Wear with t-shirts, hoodies to balance the pant’s overtness
- Mix with opposite textures: wooly, furry fabrics
- The glossier, the better
- Wear matte pumps, sandals, sneakers, boots, or mules
- Laugh like I do when you listen to yourself walk
