Can’t Believe I’m Saying This But…I MOVED!!!

Can’t believe I’m saying this…but after 15 years of living in Jersey City proper, I moved!! And I didn’t even plan to leave JC, it sort of, just happened!

I’m sure y’all know, moving can suck but thanks to WellKnown Movers for making this process the best experience I could have hoped for.

I hope you enjoy today’s vlog!! Can’t wait for you to see where I live now!

After just a few months of settling in, I realize how special this new home is. It was BEYOND what I was even looking for! If I was going to move, I’d only do it if I found the following 3 things.

  • outside space – I felt so confined and restricted being inside 4 walls everyday, especially working from home. I’m such an energy person, I need more light and the ability to walk outside and have coffee and recharge my energy with the sun. Being outside does something to me.
  • washer + dryer – it’s so funny to say this, but this is a luxury item in the NYC area. I was SO over walking to the laundry mat or waiting to bring my months+ laundry to my parents [all the way in MA]. Sometimes that felt easier than lugging my big ole bag down the street
  • less than a 3fl walk up – so ya, that bag of dirty clothes I’d let pile, shopping bags and grocery bags, lugging the ac/s up and down every season. I got to the point where I just didn’t want to do it anymore. It actually never bothered me while living there, but looking back on it now, I couldn’t believe I did it for so long!

So, I found those 3 things + some bonus things I literally wasn’t even looking for!

  • dishwasher + disposal [ I knowwww!!]
  • huge windows letting in all that glorious light
  • massive kitchen that I don’t even know what to do with
  • doorman
  • pool
  • gym
  • indoor parking
  • a space that is way more conducive to hosting friends + family
  • an insane view of Manhattan [it doesn’t get much better than this!]

Leaving a town I’ve know for most of my adult life was challenging! I wasn’t sure I was making a good decision. Jersey City was SO walkable. I thought I was giving up everything. But after being in my new home, I know for certain, I made the right decision. I am beyond grateful for finding such a special place, where I know I’ll create many new unforgettable memories.

Love Always,
x Mer
