After years of trying and buying pants, I’ve realized the best pants that first my body are high waisted. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars trying to fit into pants that just don’t work for my small waist and big booty and essentially don’t do any good for the shape of my body, ie. boyfriend jeans, low rise jeans, overalls. Actually, I’ve never went through with buying overalls, even though I’m in love with the idea of them. But they might be the WORST fitting jeans for me on the planet earth. I keep trying them on in stores though (but not sure for what reason).

Jeans (or any pant at all) usually only work for my curves if they include stretch, not only for comfort but to keep my shape. Jeans that don’t include any have a tendency to push and pull my thickness in places I don’t want resulting in a flat or deformed looking booty. The plus side to a high waisted jean is that they make my shape curvier, sexier and stronger in shape. They silhouette my female figure in an hourglass way by making my waist smaller and making my butt look bigger.
The benefit of high rise/high waisted jeans:
Because they are meant to sit high or above my hips, they hide love handles, belly bulges, front flab, and bloating. They don’t create a muffin top and you won’t flash anyone a plumber’s butt! I also love feeling secure and being held tightly (from a man, too), so the more compact I feel, the better. Some people complain about not being able to breathe or feeling uncomfortable because of the high waist, but there is nothing worse for me than low rise jeans.
How to wear:
Wearing a high waist pant is to give you the illusion of having a smaller tummy (or accentuating your smaller tummy), so don’t cover up the waistband with something billowy and untucked. Any top tucked in or a cropped top is a great option. Avoid tops with lots of fabric and stick with a skinny, flare or wide leg style. I love a longer coat over top and stay away from jackets that hit around the same length as the waistband, which will generate a more boxy look. For the Fall, throw on a sweater and smug tuck it into your high waisted jeans (just take a pinch of sweater around your navel area and use your thumb to tuck in).
