Every Christmas, I snuggle up to my parent’s fireplace in some outrageous (yet funny) outfit that I wear to make my family laugh. Just kidding, they only roll their eyes. Usually, they just look at me side eyed, not understanding what they did to their poor child. I call it art! Anytime anyone is confused, that’s what I tell them. This year was a special one – I found a red and black plaid pajama set and then “stumbled upon” the same patterned wrapping paper. “Look at God!”
Anytime my family watches me “work” they rudely laugh out of uncomfortableness. Not many people get what I do or why I do it. It’s just like I don’t understand why they live in an area with BEARS, but that’s neither here nor there. But as I set up my tripod in front of their Christmas tree, they couldn’t help but wonder what I was up to. I swiftly walked in the back bedroom where I stashed my, might I add, beautifully wrapped gifts under the bed (also draped in red and black plaid). I hopped in front of my camera, gifts and shutter release in hand, and started shooting. Sometimes I get questions and sometimes I get the questions that are too obvious to answer. My mother asked “did you purposely match the gift wrap to your pajamas?” Why, yes, Mom, yes I did.
No Scrooges here…just lots of silliness and fun!
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Santa (i.e. Mom & Dad) is still unsure if I was good or bad this year…probably just confused by all my silly antics.
