Fitness Instagram photos and YouTube videos, as we know, make working out way easier than it actually is. We see fitness gurus left and right with bodies that seem unrelateable, untouchable or unrealistic. Thoughts run through our heads that make us think we’ll never look like them. Or maybe we just don’t want to. I guarantee that every workout they do is still tough, no mater what their body looks like or how in shape they are.
Well, no matter what our bodies look like (curves or no curves), we are, and will forever be in this fitness struggle together. Here’s the reality…this s*** is HARD for all of us. BUT there are some pretty funny things us curvy girls run into when it comes to our bodies while working out that I guarantee the real fit and lean bodies will ever understand.
1). “Lay flat on the ground. Be sure your back is flush.” Well, this is just impossible. There’s enough space to fit my entire arm through!
2). Leggins. Always see through. No mater what.
3). Nothing quite like being gawked at heavily in the gym because of our curves. Or are they staring out judgement that curvy girls are indeed working our asses off (not literally) in the gym. Aren’t you supposed to be here focusing on yourself? Get back to YOUR business. Please and thank you. Nothing to see here.
4). We can barely stretch our legs and it doesn’t feel good when we do. Trying to touch our toes isn’t feasible. Our thick thighs and the muscles that make them up are forever tight.
5). Spin Class. Tried it once. Thought I was “sitting” on the bike wrong. Tried it again. Never going back. This butt doesn’t belong on a bike seat.
6). Our workout outfits always consist of leggings (even if see through). Well, because shorts are just out of the question. We only wear shorts when we want constant wedgies and leg chaffing which would be…never.
7). Meet with trainer. Get workout plan. Have to remind trainer that I’m not built like a bodybuilder with a lean physique. Let’s go ahead and adjust this workout to accommodate my curves please.
8). Meet with trainer. Get workout plan. Have to remind trainer of my goal “I don’t want to lose weight.” Rather, I’m doing this to better my health. Plan adjusted. Trainer’s first client that doesn’t want to lose weight.
9). We love leg day. We just throw on some compression socks for working out (because precautions first) and it’s ON! Leg machines are our absolute favorite.
10). When we have to stop midway throughout our ab workout because we have to fart. (Although, this may be standard human workout tendency). The feeling doesn’t go away. We stop our ab workout altogether.
11). Everything high waisted. If not, you’ll see even more of our curves than you already do. Probably some crack and certainly our underwear.
